Die Independence war ein Passagier-Linienschiff für die Hochseeschiffahrt.

Das Schiff wurde 1951 gebaut und war 208 m lang.

Im Jahre 2009 erregte das Schiff, als es unter dem Namen Platinum II auf den Abwrackwerften bei Alang verschrottet werden sollte, international Unbill.[1]
