Israel Sarug

Israel Sarug (Israel Sarug Aschkenasi, auch Saruk) war ein um 1600 lebender und wirkender jüdischer Gelehrter und Kabbalist.

Er war Luria-Schüler und gelobte seinem Meister kurz vor dessen Tod, die kabbalistische Lehre zu verbreiten, und gewann in Italien viele Anhänger und wirkte in diesem Sinne auch in Deutschland und in Amsterdam.

Unter diesen war auch Menahem Azariah da Fano, den er davon überzeugte, für viel Geld Werke von Luria zu erwerben, und Aaron Berechiah of Modena, der Autor des Ma'abar Yabboḳ.
