J. Maarten Troost

J. Maarten Troost (* 1969 in Holland) ist ein Reiseschriftsteller mit niederländischen und tschechischen Vorfahren, der seine Erfahrungen in Ostasien und dabei besonders auf Inseln im Südpazifik und während eines dreimonatigen Trips durch China beschreibt.

Bislang (März 2011) veröffentlichte Troost drei Bücher: Sex Lives of Cannibals (2004), Getting Stoned with Savages (2006) und Lost on Planet China: The Strange and True Story of One Man's Attempt to Understand the World's Most Mystifying Nation, or How He Became Comfortable Eating Live Squid (2008).

Er veröffentlichte Beiträge und Essays für The Atlantic Monthly, The Washington Post und The Prague Post, für letztere in seiner Studentenzeit. Darüber hinaus war er bei der Weltbank tätig.

Troost wuchs in Kanada auf und lebt derzeit in Kalifornien. Er ist verheiratet und hat zwei Kinder.
