John Hay, 2. Marquess of Tweeddale

John Hay, 2. Marquess of Tweeddale, (* 1645; † 20. August 1713) war von 1704 bis 1705 Lordkanzler von Schottland.

Er war der älteste Sohn von John Hay, 1. Marquess of Tweeddale und dessen Frau Jean, Tochter von Walter Scott, 1. Earl of Buccleuch. Im Jahre 1666, heiratete er Lady Mary Maitland, Tochter von John Maitland, 1. Duke of Lauderdale.

Nach einer militärischen Karriere, ging er in die Politik. Im Jahre 1695 war er Schatzkanzler.[1] Nach dem Tod seines Vaters im Jahre 1697 übernahm er den Titel.[2]

Er wurde zum Lord High Commissioner im schottischen Parlament im Jahre 1704[1] und war Lordkanzler von Schottland von 1704 bis 1705[3].

Sein ältester Sohn, Charles (1670-1715), wurde der 3. Marquess.
