Lance Mackey (* 1970 in Alaska) ist ein amerikanischer Musher. Er hat bisher je viermal den Yukon Quest und das Iditarod gewonnen.

Karriere

Lance Mackey ist der Sohn von Dick Mackey, einem der Gründer des Iditarod-Rennens, und der Halbbruder von Rick Mackey. Alle drei gewannen ihr erstes Iditarod bei ihrer jeweils sechsten Teilnahme und mit der Startnummer 13. Dick 1978, Rick 1983 und Lance 2007.

Mackey hat bisher viermal in Folge den Yukon Quest gewonnen, nämlich 2005, 2006, 2007 und 2008. Seit 2007 hat er auch das Iditarod viermal gewonnen. Er ist der zweite Teilnehmer nach Martin Buser, der das Iditarod in weniger als 9 Tagen beendete, nämlich in 8 Tagen 23 Stunden 59 Minuten und 9 Sekunden.

Privates

Mackey ist verheiratet und hat vier Kinder. Er wohnt in Fairbanks, Alaska, wo er einen Schlittenhundekennel betreibt.
