Der afrikanische Chambeshi (Tschambesi) ist der Quellfluss des Luapula und gehört zum Stromsystem des Kongos.

Er entsteht im Norden Sambias unweit der Grenze zu Tansania. Dort liegt die Quelle des Chambeshi zwischen dem Tanganjikasee und dem Malawisee. Er durchfließt die Bangweulusümpfe in Richtung Südwesten. Dort speist er als wichtigster Fluss den Luapula, der später Luvua heißt.

Westlich der Stadt Isoka führt eine Pontonbrücke über den Fluss.
