Parawa ist ein landwirtschaftlich geprägter, kleiner Ort im Southland-Distrikt in der Region Southland auf der Südinsel Neuseelands. Er liegt in 264 m Höhe am hier Athol Fiver Rivers Highway genannten State Highway 6. Der Ort ist über diese Straße mit Athol im Nordosten und Five Rivers im Südwesten verbunden. Südöstlich der Siedlung verläuft der Eyre Creek, südsüdöstlich befindet sich der Berg Mid Dome mit 1.479 m Höhe.

Der Māoriname des Ortes kommt von Pā für ein befestigtes Dorf und "rawa" für "Errichten".
