Plinthosol

Plinthosol

Plinthosol ist eine der dreißig Bodenklassen innerhalb des von FAO aufgestellten Bodenklassifikationssystems.

Plinthosole bilden sich während verschiedener klimatischer und topographischer Bedingungen und sind gekennzeichnet durch eisenreiche Schichten aus Ton (meist Kaolinit) und Silikaten, die an der Oberfläche zu Eisenerz aushärten, dem so genannten Plinthit.

Die Undurchlässigkeit für Wasser lässt keine Landwirtschaft zu, bestenfalls kann Forst- oder Weidewirtschaft betrieben werden.
