Polateli liegt zentral in der Provinz und grenzt im Norden an die Provinz Gaziantep. Der Landkreis Polateli hat 5565 Einwohner, die Stadt 1015 (Stand 2008).
Frühere Ortsnamen lauteten Güldüzü und Ispanak.[2]
