Der IBM Rational Project Conductor war eine Projektmanagement-Applikation für die Entwicklung von IT-Lösungen.

Übersicht

Der Rational Project Conductor baut auf der Jazz Platform auf. Jazz ist eine skalier- und erweiterbare, Team-Collaborations-Platform, die verschiedenste Aufgaben über den gesamten Software Entwicklungsprozess hinweg integriert.

Die Bedienung des Systems erfolgt über einen Webbrowser. Der Benutzer kann so die folgenden Aufgaben bearbeiten

  • Planen und terminieren von Programmen und Projekten
  • Team-Mitglieder auf Basis ihres Wissens, Könnens einplanen und die Kosten kalkulieren
  • Projekt-Risiken abschätzen und zugehörige Arbeitspaktete verfolgen.
  • Projekt Budgets kalkulieren, Aufwände abschätzen und mit dem Ist-Stand abgleichen.
  • elektronische Stundenzettel der geleisteten Projektstunden verwalten
  • Benutzung von Prozess-Templates (unter anderem agiles und traditionelles Projekt-Management).

Die Entwicklung des Rational Project Conductors selbst lässt sich über die Website Jazz.net verfolgen. Entwickler und Benutzer kommunizieren in Diskussions Foren, Newsgroups über neue Anforderungen und Veränderung im Entwicklungsprozesses. Enthalten in Jazz.net sind neben technischen Artikeln, Foren, Wikis, Blogs auch Produktdokumentationen und andere Info's zum Einsatz und Betrieb des Produktes.

Integrationen

Der Rational Project Conductor erlaubt die Integration mit folgenden Produkten:

  • IBM Rational Focal Point – Austausch von Informationen über Entscheidungen und Business Prioritäten, die auf der Ebene des Produktportfolios getroffen wurden
  • IBM Rational Team Concert – Integration des Entwicklungsprozesses mit dem entsprechenden Projektmanagement:
  • IBM Rational ClearQuest – Importieren von Datensätzen aus Rationall ClearQuest in den Rational Project Conductor unter Benutzung eines „ClearQuest Connectors“ oder einer ClearQuest Bridge.
  • IBM Rational Insight – Anzeigen, Gestalten und Anpassen von Projekt Berichten über den Datenbestand des Rational Project Conductors. Rational Insight enthält einige vordefinierte Berichte für den Rational Project Conductor.
  • Microsoft Project – Import und Export von Projekten zwischen beiden Produkten. Arbeitspakete und Aufgaben werden automatisch zugeordnet.
