Swami Veda Bharati, geb. Usharbudh Arya (* 1933), begann bereits mit neun Jahren die Yoga Sutras und die Veden zu unterrichten. Bevor er 1968 einer der engsten Schüler von Swami Rama wurde, war er u.a. viele Jahre als Sanskrit Professor in den USA tätig. Durch ihn wird heute zu einem grossen Teil die jahrtausende alte Tradition der Weisen aus der Himalaya fortgeführt. Beständige Reisen in alle Erdteile bestimmen sein Leben. Er leitet unter anderen als spiritueller Direktor den Swami Rama Ashram (Sadhana Mandir) in Rishikesh, Nordindien, und ist weltweit spiritueller Lehrer von vielen Menschen.

Mahamandalleshvara Swami Veda Bharati ist Autor zahlreicher Bücher, unter anderem des umfassendsten Kommentars zu den Yoga-Sutras von Patanjali; er gründete viele Meditationszentren in Nordamerika, Europa und Südostasien.
