Das Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) ist ein Wettersatellitenprogramm der US-amerikanischen Streitkräfte. Es handelt sich um das militärische Equivalent zum zivilen TIROS- und NOAA-Programm. Wie diese umkreisen auch die DMSP-Satelliten die Erde in einem sonnensynchronen Orbit.
Seit 1962 wurden 50 Satelliten in zwölf Baureihen („Blocks“) gestartet. Drei weitere Satelliten sind noch geplant, dann wird das DMSP-System durch das NPOESS-System ersetzt, das sowohl vom Militär als auch von der zivilen NOAA betrieben wird.
Die Satelliten der Baureihen 1 bis 4 waren spinstabilisiert, während die späteren Baureihen eine Stabilisierung um alle drei Achsen aufwiesen. Die Satelliten des Baureihe Block-5D benötigten keine Oberstufe der Trägerrakete, da sie einen Feststoffraketenmotor als integrierten Antrieb besaßen.
