Energy Exchange Austria

Die Energy Exchange Austria (EXAA) ist ein elektronischer Marktplatz für den Energiehandel. Sie fungiert als österreichische Strombörse und Anlaufstelle für den Handel von CO2-Emissionszertifikaten im Rahmen des EU-Emissionshandels. Betreibergesellschaft der EXAA ist die CISMOgroup mit Sitz in Wien.

Neben den klassischen Börseagenden kümmert sich die EXAA um die Abrechnung der finanziellen Transaktionen (Clearing) und übernimmt das Risiko, dass Marktteilnehmer die den Geschäften zugrunde liegenden Werte nicht wie vereinbart kaufen oder verkaufen (Counterpart Risik).

Geschichte

Mit der vollständigen Liberalisierung des Österreichischen Strommarktes am 1. Oktober 2001 wurden die rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen für die Errichtung einer Strombörse geschaffen. Der Handel begann am 19. März 2002 mit 12 Marktteilnehmern. Mittlerweile umfasst der EXAA Spothandel 2009 über 60 Stromhändler [1] und 13 CO2-Händler aus mehr als 14 Ländern.[2]

In weiterer Folge wurden die Handelsgebiete und -agenden kontinuierlich erweitert:

  • Juni 2004 Eröffnung der transpower (früher: E.ON) Regelzone
  • Mai 2005 Eröffnung der Amprion (früher: RWE) Regelzone
  • Juni 2005 Handelsstart mit CO2-Zertifikaten
  • Dez. 2006 Eröffnung Regelzone in Schweiz
  • 2006 Etablierung von 2 Market Makern für den Spothandel Strom
  • 2002 - 2006 Auction Office für Kapazitätsauktionen (wird nun von RIECADO, einem Unternehmen der CISMOgroup abgewickelt)
  • 2007 Maximalgröße pro Blockprodukt wird von 200 MW auf 500 MW angehoben
  • 2008 Umstellung des Algorithmus zur verlässlicheren Ausführung von Market Orders
  • Ende 2008 Regelmäßige Marktanalysen des Strom-Spotmarkts der EXAA zur Steigerung der Transparenz [3]
  • ab 2009 TEEM - Training for Energy and Environmental Markets [4]
  • Dez. 2009 Eröffnung der EnBW und Vattenfall Regelzone

Integration der EXAA in die CISMOgroup

Im Sommer 2005 wurde die EXAA in die CISMOgroup integriert, der auch zahlreiche Servicegesellschaften der österreichischen Energiewirtschaft angehören. Im Juni 2006 übersiedelte die EXAA zum gemeinsamen Firmensitz ins Palais Liechtenstein in Wien Alsergrund.
