Ailein duinn

Ailein duinn ("Dunkelhaariger Alan") ist ein Klagelied, das für Ailean Moireasdan ("Alan Morrison") von seiner Verlobten Annag Chaimbeul ("Annie Campbell") geschrieben wurde. 1788 setzte Ailein Segel nach Scalpay im Südteil der Insel Lewis and Harris, wo er und Annag heiraten wollten. Tragischerweise segelte er in einen starken Sturm und die gesamte Besatzung verunglückte. Annag war zutiefst erschüttert und verlor ihren Lebenswillen. Sie starb wenige Monate später. Ihre Leiche wurde später am Strand entdeckt, nicht weit von der Stelle an der die Leiche Ailean Moireasdans gefunden wurde. Bevor sie starb, komponierte Annag dieses Klagelied für ihre verlorene Liebe.
