Filter sind Methoden und Verfahren, die es ermöglichen, Daten, auf die im Internet zugegriffen wird, auszuwählen und zu sortieren.

Filter verwenden mathematische, statistische oder Datenbankbasierte Verfahren, sind als Modul oder Programm implementiert und können auf dem Client oder serverseitig im Webbrowser, Webserver oder im E-Mail-Programm angesiedelt sein

  • Mailfilter, ein Verfahren zur Sortierung und Verarbeitung von E-Mails
  • Contentfilter, Kontrolle auf illegalen anstößigen Inhalt von Webseiten oder E-Mails
  • Spamfilter, Übersicht auf Filterung auf unerwünschte Werbung
