Das Alabama-Territorium war ein historisches Hoheitsgebiet der Vereinigten Staaten, das aus dem östlichen Teil des Mississippi-Territoriums geformt wurde. [1] Das Territorium wurde am 3. März 1817 gestaltet, kurz bevor Mississippi ein Bundesstaat wurde.

Geschichte

Im Zentralbereich des Alabama-Territoriums ist St. Stephens gelegen. Es befindet sich am Tombigbee River und stellte die einzige territoriale Hauptstadt dar. Zu dieser Zeit war William Wyatt Bibb der einzige territoriale Gouverneur. Knapp zwei Jahre später, am 14. Dezember 1819, wurde Alabama als 22. US-Bundesstaat in die Union eingelassen.[1]
