George Peacock (* 9. April 1791 in Thornton Hall, Denton, bei Darlington; † 8. November 1858 in Ely, England) war ein englischer Mathematiker.

Peacock begann 1809 sein Studium am Trinity College der Cambridge University. 1814 wurde er Fellow des Trinity College. Er hatte danach verschiedene Lehrpositionen am Trinity College.

1836 wurde er zum Lowndean professor of astronomy and geometry an der Cambridge University und drei Jahre später zum Dekan (Dechant) der Kathedrale von Ely ernannt, nachdem er 1839 in Theologie promovierte.

Peacock gehörte 1820 zusammen mit Charles Babbage und John Herschel zu den Gründern der Royal Astronomical Society. Mit Babbage war er Mitglied der Analytical Society, die es sich zum Ziel gesetzt hatte, den Mathematikunterricht insbesondere in Analysis zu modernisieren und den Rückstand in England aufzuholen, verursacht durch Beharren auf der veralteten Newtonschen Notation gegenüber der erheblich erfolgreicheren Leibnizschen Notation und den damit im 18. Jahrhundert außerhalb Englands erreichten Fortschritten. Zusammen übersetzten sie das Analysis-Lehrbuch von Lacroix 1816 und propagierten überall die "kontinentalen" Methoden. Peacock verfasste auch ein Lehrbuch der Algebra (1830).
