Haploid

Von Haploidie (griech. ἁπλόος = einfach) wird gesprochen, wenn der Chromosomensatz einer Zelle nur einfach vorhanden ist, die Zelle in ihrem Zellkern also von allen verschiedenen Chromosomentypen nur jeweils ein einziges Exemplar enthält.

Typischerweise sind die Chromosomensätze der Eizellen und Spermien haploid. Ihre haploiden Chromosomensätze verschmelzen bei der Befruchtung zum doppelten Chromosomensatz einer diploiden Zelle, der Zygote.

Der haploide Chromosomensatz einer menschlichen Keimzelle besitzt 23 verschiedene Chromosomen, 22 Autosomen und 1 Gonosom. Bei der Keimzelle der Frau, der Eizelle, ist das Gonosom immer das X-Chromosom, bei der männlichen Keimzelle, dem Spermium, ist es entweder das X-Chromosom oder das Y-Chromosom. Da die Anzahl der Chromosomen bei verschiedenen Arten von Lebewesen unterschiedlich sein kann, kann dementsprechend auch deren Anzahl im haploiden Chromosomensatz verschieden sein.

Als Formelzeichen wird für haploide Grundzahlen x angewandt, im Gegensatz zum n, das als Symbol für ein vollständiges Genom eines Organismus dient und je nach Ploidiegrad von 2n bis 8n betragen kann.
