Ein Penisfutteral (auch Penisköcher) ist ein langes, spitz zulaufendes Rohr aus einer Kalebasse (längliche Fruchthülse einer Kürbispflanze), welches als Kleidung getragen wird. Die Männer stülpen sich hierzu das Rohr über den Penis und befestigen es mit einer Schnur rund um die Hüfte, bei längeren Futteralen auch um den Hals. Ein Penisfutteral kann bis zu 40 cm lang sein. Es wird heutzutage fast nur noch aus traditionellen Anlässen getragen.

Verbreitung

Penisrohr

Ganz ähnliche Köcher wurden bzw. werden

  • von Papuastämmen in Neuguinea,
  • von Aborigines in Australien,
  • bei einigen indigenen Stämmen im Amazonasgebiet [1] und in Teilen Afrikas getragen.

Mindestens zehntausend Jahre lang bestand kein Kontakt zwischen den meisten dieser Regionen bis zur Beschreibung durch Europäer. Es handelt sich daher trotz der Ähnlichkeit der Köcher offenbar um völlig isolierte Parallentwicklungen.

Funktion

Das Penisfutteral verbirgt zwar den Penis vor dem direkten Blick. Andererseits wird eine erheblich größere Form gewählt, als zum reinen Verbergen benötigt würde. Daher ist die Funktion wohl komplex und dient teilweise auch dem Imponieren ("phallisches Imponiergehabe" [2]). Es ist bekannt, dass sich die Träger ohne Penisfutteral ihrer Exhibition schämen.

Verbot des Penisfutterals in Indonesien

Das Parlament in Indonesien hat 2008 ein Anti-Pornographie-Gesetz verabschiedet, das das Tragen der traditionellen Koteka oder Holim, wie das Futteral in Neuguinea genannt wird, unter Strafe stellt. [3]

Penisfutteral im Bereich BDSM

Auch in dem Bereich BDSM kommt das Penisfutteral zum Einsatz. Es kann z.B. in einem Slip oder in einem Vakuumbett eingearbeitet sein.
