Hwarangdo

Hwarang-Do (화랑도) ist eine moderne koreanische Kampfkunst, die den Namen von den Kriegern des Silla-Königreiches (Hwarang), die etwa im 3. Jahrhundert gewirkt haben, übernommen hat. Die moderne Form des Hwarang-Do geht zurück auf Dr. Joo Bang Lee und seinen Bruder Joo Sang Lee, die zuerst Hapkido gelernt haben, und nach ihren unbewiesenen Angaben nach, von einem Koreanischen Mönch namens Sonan Dosa in den alten koreanischen Kampfkünsten der Hwarang (Ritter der Jugendblüte) unterrichtet worden sind. Um das Wissen um diese Kampftechniken zu erhalten, gründeten sie ihren eigenen Stil, den sie Hwarang Do nannten.
