IEC 60228

IEC 60228 ist die internationale Norm zur Bezeichnung des Leiterquerschnitts isolierter Kabel.

Insbesondere wird eine Standardtabelle für Leiterquerschnitte wie folgt definiert:

In ingenieurmäßigen Anwendungen ist die Bezeichnung des Querschnitts i. d. R. sinnvoller als die des Durchmessers, weil Stärke, Masse und Widerstand eines Kabels direkt vom Querschnitt abhängen. Auch der Strom, den das Kabel sicher (d. h. ohne zu überhitzen) führen kann, hängt direkt vom Querschnitt ab. Beim Durchmesser müsste umgerechnet werden. Für viele Anwendungen sind Mindestquerschnitte, z. T. auch gesetzlich, vorgeschrieben. Die Norm beschreibt verschiedene Aspekte der Leiter isolierter Kabel.

Klassen

Die Angabe der Klasse bezieht sich auf die Flexibilität des Leiters.

  • Klasse 1: Vollquerschnitt
  • Klasse 2: Leitung für feste Verlegung
  • Klasse 5: Flexible Leitung
  • Klasse 6: Sehr flexible Leitung
