Ankawa (syrisch-aramäisch: ܥܢܟܒܐ; arabisch ‏عنكاوا‎, DMG ʿAnkāwā) ist eine Vorstadt von Arbil im Irak, in der schätzungsweise ca. 30.000 Menschen leben. Ankawa ist mehrheitlich von Assyrern/Aramäern, auch Chaldo-Assyrer genannt, bewohnt. Es ist eine der ältesten christlichen Ansiedlungen im Irak.

Ankawa hat drei Kirchen (Mar Joseph, Mar Elia und Mar Giorgis), sowie eine neue assyrische Kirche. Außerdem liegt die Vorstadt am neu gebauten internationalen Flughafen Arbil.

Auf Grund der bedrohlichen Situation für die Christen im Irak sind rund 3000 Flüchtlinge in Schweden, Australien, der USA und Kanada sowie in Teilen von Europa untergekommen. Diese Flüchtlinge kommen aus Städten wie Bagdad, Mosul und Basra und benutzen Ankawa meist nur als Zwischenstopp.

Das Volk Ankawas ist bekannt für seine Gastfreundlichkeit. Die meisten Menschen aus Ankawa sind Akademiker - am meisten vertreten sind die folgenden Bereiche: das Studium der Medizin, des Ingenieurswesens und des Lehramts - es wird viel Wert auf einen guten Schulabschluss gelegt. Ankawa ist eine der kulturreichsten Vorstädte Iraks.
