William Larned 1910

William Larned, genannt „Bill“, (* 30. Dezember 1872 in Summit, USA; † 16. Dezember 1926 in New York City) war ein US-amerikanischer Tennisspieler.

Vor seinem 28. Lebensjahr konnte er kein großes Turnier gewinnen, siegte dann aber 1901, 1902, 1907, 1908, 1909, 1910 und 1911 insgesamt 7 Mal bei den amerikanischen Meisterschaften, heute US Open. Dieser Rekord wurde nur noch von Richard Sears bei den ersten Austragungen der Meisterschaften und Bill Tilden in den zwanziger Jahren erreicht, aber von keinem anderen Tennisspieler übertroffen. 1956 erfolgte posthum die Aufnahme in die International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Im Jahr 1926 beging Bill Larned Selbstmord.
