Little Earthquakes ist das Debütalbum von Tori Amos. Es erschien 1992 als Vorgängeralbum von Under The Pink bei Atlantic Records (innerhalb USA) und WEA International (außerhalb USA).

Entstehungsgeschichte

Bereits auf ihrem ersten Soloalbum konnte Tori Amos als Co-Produzentin (zusammen mit Eric Rosse) von 5 der 12 Titel in Erscheinung treten. Hauptproduzent war Davitt Sigerson, der bereits The Bangles und Olivia Newton-John erfolgreich produzieren konnte. So ist dann auch auf den meisten Stücken nur zu erahnen, dass diese ursprünglich als reine Klavier-Performance komponiert wurden.

Einige Songs des Debütalbums sind regelrechte Klassiker geworden. So ist die Ballade „Winter“ bis heute als Single erhältlich und Lieder wie „Precious Things“ und „Silent All These Years“ gehörten über zehn Jahre lang zu fast jedem Tori Amos Livekonzert. Hingegen verschwand „Me And A Gun“ im Laufe der ersten Jahre zunehmend von der Live-Setliste.

Erfolge

Little Earthquakes ist mit über 2 Millionen verkauften Exemplaren das erfolgreichste Album von Tori Amos. Das Album verkaufte sich nicht nur gut, es erhielt auch Lob von Musikkritikern.

Singles

Als Singles wurden „Me And A Gun“, „Silent All These Years“, „Crucify“ und „China“ (produziert von Ian Stanley) veröffentlicht. Im Rahmen einer RAINN-Benefiz Veranstaltung erschien „Silent All These Years“ im Jahre 1997 noch einmal.
