Der Ohau River ist ein kurzer Fluss im Mackenzie-Becken in Neuseeland. Er verbindet den Lake Ohau mit dem Lake Benmore, einem Stausee des Waitaki River, und durchfließt nach etwa 8 km den Stausee Lake Ruataniwha.

Vor dem Bau der Wasserkraftanlagen am Flusssystem des Waitaki River war er ein Zufluss des Waitaki. Er ist ein Teil der traditionellen Grenze zwischen den Regionen Otago und Canterbury.[1]

Die nächstgelegene Ortschaft ist Twizel am Lake Ruataniwha.

Nördlich, nach dem Lake Ruataniwha dann westlich des gewundenen Flussbettes verläuft parallel ein für das Wasserkraftprojekt genutzter Umgehungskanal.
