Seyyed Hossein Nasr (* 7. April 1939 in Teheran, Iran) ist ein persischer Philosoph.

Leben

Seyyed Hossein Nasr studierte in Teheran, und anschließend in den USA am Massachusetts Institute of Technology und an der Harvard University. Er kehrte 1958 zurück in den Iran und war bis 1979 Professor an der Universität Teheran.

Er gründete die Iranian Academy of Philosophy und war auch ihr erster Präsident. Seit 1984 ist er Professor für islamische Studien an der George Washington University.

Professor Nasr hat mehr als 50 Bücher und 500 Artikel auf Persisch, Englisch, Arabisch, und Französisch über den Islam und den Sufismus geschrieben.
