Die Hoover Institution on War, Revolution, and Peace ist ein konservativer think tank an der Stanford University in Kalifornien. Sie wurde 1919 von dem späteren Präsidenten der Vereinigten Staaten Herbert C. Hoover gegründet. Die Hoover Institution verfügt über ein großes Archiv zu Herbert Hoover, dem ersten und dem zweiten Weltkrieg. Sie wird überwiegend durch Spenden von Stiftungen großer, amerikanischer Konzerne, wie JP Morgan, General Motors, Exxon oder Procter & Gamble finanziert. Seit 2001 publiziert sie die Zeitschrift Policy Review.
Die Hoover Institution hat einen großen Einfluss auf die neokonservativen und libertären Bewegungen der USA. Mitglieder unterhalten gute Beziehungen zur Bush-Regierung, hochrangige Vertreter der US-amerikanischen Regierung (etwa Donald Rumsfeld) waren in den letzten Jahren für Vorträge am Institut. Ein Treffen des Präsidenten George W. Bush mit den Forschern der Hoover Institution wurde 2006 durch Studenten der Stanford University und andere Demonstranten verhindert. Zu den Fellows des Instituts gehören oder gehörten Politiker, wie Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan und Condoleezza Rice, aber auch der Schriftsteller Alexander Issajewitsch Solschenizyn, der Ökonom Milton Friedman sowie der Mitherausgeber der deutschen Wochenzeitung "Die Zeit", Josef Joffe.
