Bareilly (Hindi: बरेली, Urdu: باریلی; Barelī [bʌˈreːliː]) ist eine Stadt im indischen Bundesstaat Uttar Pradesh mit etwa 900.000 Einwohnern (Volkszählung 2011). Sie ist Hauptstadt des Distrikts Bareilly und der Division Rohilkhand.

Bareilly liegt am Fluss Ramganga auf einer durchschnittlichen Höhe von 165 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel[3]. Die Stadt wurde 1537 gegründet und in weiten Teilen im 17. Jahrhundert unter dem Mogul-Gouverneur Makrand Ray erbaut. Später wurde Bareilly Hauptstadt der Rohillas, einem eingewanderten Clan, der das umliegende Gebiet unter seine Kontrolle brachte. 1774 eroberte der Herrscher von Avadh mit Hilfe der Briten das Gebiet; die Stadt wurde 1801 an die Briten abgetreten.

Bareilly ist ein Zentrum der Möbelproduktion und des Handels mit Baumwolle, Getreide und Zucker. In Bareilly Industriezentrum Parsakhera ist unter anderem auch die Saraswati Camphor Factory, einer der größten Kampferproduzenten Asiens, ansässig.
