Die USS Greer (DD–145) war ein Wickes-Klasse Zerstörer der United States Navy, benannt nach Konteradmiral James A. Greer (1833–1904).

Die USS Greer erwiderte am 4. September 1941, drei Monate vor der Kriegserklärung des Deutschen Reiches an die Vereinigten Staaten, als erstes Schiff der US-Marine den Angriff eines deutschen U-Boots im Nordatlantik. Als Reaktion auf diesen Zwischenfall gab Präsident Franklin D. Roosevelt US-Kriegsschiffen die Anweisung, nicht erst einen Angriff abzuwarten, sondern sofort zuzuschlagen, wenn sie ein deutsches U-Boot sichteten („shoot on sight order“).
