Das U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), dt. etwa: Medizinische Forschungseinrichtung der US Army für Infektionskrankheiten) in Fort Detrick, Maryland ist das wohl bedeutendste Laboratorium der USA bezüglich der Forschung an biologischen Waffen und entsprechenden Gegenmitteln.

Hier werden Impfstoffe, Behandlungs- und Diagnosemöglichkeiten für den Einsatz auf dem Feld und in Labors entwickelt und erforscht.

USAMRIID ist die einzige dem US-Verteidigungsministerium unterstehende Einrichtung, in der an biologischen Krankheitserregern der Risikogruppe 4 geforscht werden kann.

Es wird Wert auf eine enge Zusammenarbeit mit den CDC, der WHO und elitären akademischen Zentren weltweit gelegt.

Die Einheit wurde aufgrund der General Order No. 6, datiert auf den 27. Januar 1969, Office of the Surgeon General of the Army, aufgestellt.
