GibbsCAM (in Deutschland als Virtual Gibbs vertrieben) ist eine CAD-/CAM-Software zur Programmierung von CNC-Maschinen.

Folgende Technologien werden unterstützt:

  • Drehen bis 25 Achsen
  • Fräsen bis fünf Achsen simultan
  • Drahterodieren
  • Stanzen / Nibbeln
  • Laserschneiden
  • Brennschneiden

Die Software besitzt ein integriertes 2D-/3D-CAD-System zur Erstellung eigener Geometrien. Daten in den Formaten DXF, DWG, IGES, Parasolid, SolidWorks, Solid Edge und Inventor können direkt eingelesen werden.

Anschließend werden die selbst erstellten oder eingelesenen Daten mittels der Postprozessoren in ein CNC-Programm konvertiert.

Die Software wurde 1984 zum ersten Mal in den USA installiert. Der Firmengründer Bill Gibbs war selbst stark an der Programmierung der Software beteiligt. Zur Zeit wird die Software in Moorpark bei Los Angeles mit 80 Mitarbeitern entwickelt.

Laut Herstellerangaben sind weltweit 60.000 Installationen realisiert worden. Außerdem wurden 6.000 Lizenzen für Schulen und Ausbildungsstätten installiert.
