Waianiwaniwa River

Der Waianiwaniwa River ist ein Fluss in der Region Canterbury auf der Südinsel Neuseelands.

Seine Quelle befindet sich im Vorland der Neuseeländischen Alpen. Er mündet in den Selwyn River, dieser in den Lake Ellesmere. Der Central Plains Water Trust will den Fluss für ein Bewässerungsprojekt aufstauen [1], dieser Plan wird jedoch von Umweltgruppen und der örtlichen Malvern Hills Protection Society abgelehnt.

Im Oberlauf des Flusses leben Bestände des seltenen, zu den Galaxien zählenden Canterbury Mudfish (Neochanna burrowsius) [2]
