Haargel mit dem "Wet-Look"

Haargel ist ein Frisurenfestiger in Gel-Form auf Wasser- bzw. Wasser-/Alkohol-Basis, der verwendet wird, um die Frisur zu gestalten (Styling). Die Hauptkomponente sind filmbildende Polymere, die sich um die Haare legen (anders als beim Haarspray).

Der früheste Nachweis eines haargelähnlichen Produkts, eine Mischung aus Ölen und Pinien-Resinen, stammt vom Clonycavan-Mann, einer irischen Moorleiche aus der Zeit um 392 bis 201 v. Chr.[1]

Haargel wird in verschiedenen Festigungsgraden verkauft, davon abhängig können die Haare nach dem Trocknen sehr hart werden. Produktabhängig bleibt nach dem Trocknen ein glänzender Eindruck; insbesondere bei sogenannten „Wet-Look“-Produkten soll ein Effekt erzielt werden, der die Haare auch nach dem Trocknen nass erscheinen lässt.

Haargel wird in erster Linie bei kurzen, aber auch bei langen Haaren eingesetzt. Es ist derzeit vor allem bei (jungen) Männern sehr beliebt.

Soweit keine Unverträglichkeit wie z.B. eine Allergie gegenüber dem Styling-Produkt besteht, ist die Gefahr von Haarausfall so gut wie ausgeschlossen.

Statt Haargel wurde früher Pomade, Fett (Butter, Margarine), Bier oder Zuckerwasser zum Hair-Styling verwendet.
