AG Insurance

AG Insurance, bis zum 22 Juni 2009 die Fortis Insurance Belgium SA[1], ist eine belgische Versicherung mit Hauptsitz in Brüssel/Belgien.

Sie gehört zu 75 % zur Ageas Holding (ehemals Fortis Holding) und zu 25 % zur BNP Paribas Fortis (ehemals Fortis Bank Belgium).

Im Geschäftsjahr 2008 konnte im Bereich Lebensversicherungen ein Verlust von 85 Mio. Euro und im Bereich Sachversicherungen ein Gewinn von 91 Mio. Euro erwirtschaftet werden. Fortis Insurance Belgium hatte Ende 2008 5.542 Beschäftigte. [2]

Im Rahmen der Finanzkrise war die Fortis Gruppe ab Mitte September 2008 in eine massive Finanzkrise geraten. Daraufhin kam es zu Verhandlungen mit der französischen Bank BNP Paribas um eine Übernahme des belgischen und luxemburgischen Bank- und Versicherungsgeschäfts. Die BNP Paribas erklärte zwar am 6. Oktober 2008 zunächst noch, nicht nur die Fortis Bank Belgium, sondern auch die Fortis Insurance Holding SA übernehmen zu wollen. Nach dem Urteil eines belgischen Gerichtes im Dezember 2008 erklärte die BNP Paribas dann, nur noch 10 Prozent des Versicherungszweiges übernehmen zu wollen.

Nach dem letztlich angenommenen Übernahmeplan kaufte die BNP Paribas 75% der Fortis Bank Belgium, die wiederum 25% der Fortis Insurance Belgium von der ehemaligen Fortis Holding übernahm.[3] Im Zuge der Neustrukturierung wurde der durch die Bankenkrise belastete Name Fortis durch die Versicherung abgelegt, die seitdem AG Insurance heißt.[4]

Das Management bilden Antonio Cano (CEO) und Kurt De Schepper (CRO).[5]

Interparking, eine Tochter (zu 90 Prozent) der AG Real Estate, ist einer der größten europäischen Parkraumbewirtschafter mit ca. 560 Parkhäusern in 340 Städten in 7 Ländern und über 275.000 Parkplätzen. [6]
