Ali ibn Isa

Ali ibn Isa (al-Kahhal, Augenarzt; al-Baghdadi) (* um 940; † um 1010) war ein bedeutender Augenarzt des Mittelalters.[1] [2]

Seinem Beinamen zufolge stammte er aus Baghdad. Dort lernte er am Al-'Adudi Hospital bei dem nestorianischen Arzt, Philosophen und Theologen Abdullah ibn al-Taiyib († 1043).[3]

In seinem Hauptwerk Kitab Tadkirat al-Kahhalin (Erinnerungsbuch für Augenärzte) beschreibt er 130 Augenkrankheiten und stellt 141 Heilmittel für Augenleiden vor.
