Amanda Levete

Amanda Levete (* 17. November 1955 in Bridgend, Wales, Großbritannien) ist eine britische Architektin, die seit 2009 Inhaberin des Architekturbüros Amanda Levete Architects (AL_A) in London ist.

Leben

Levete studierte an der Londoner Architectural Association School of Architecture und arbeitete nach ihrem Abschluss bei Architekten wie Alsop & Lyall und YRM Associates. 1983 wurde sie Partnerin bei Powis und Levete. In den Jahren 1984 bis 1989 war sie bei Richard Rogers in der Architektengemeinschaft Richard Rogers Partnership (Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners) tätig. Von 1989 bis zum Tode ihres Partners Jan Kaplický im Jahre 2008 war sie in der Gemeinschaft Future Systems tätig. Seit 2009 besteht ihre eigene Firma AL_A.

Levete war mit Kaplický von 1991 bis 2006 verheiratet und hat einen Sohn aus dieser Ehe. Sie ist heute (2011) mit dem Direktor des London Design Festival Ben Evans verheiratet. Sie ist Lehrbeauftragte am Royal College of Art in London und im Vorstand von Artangel. Regelmäßig ist Levetein Radio und Fernsehen zu hören und zu sehen. Ferner schreibt sie Artikel in der Zeitschrift Building.
