Das Substantiv Include (von englisch to include = "einschließen") (in Cobol: Copy-Element oder kurz Copy genannt) [1]) ist eine unter Programmierern übliche Bezeichnung für eine Routine oder eine Dateibeschreibung, die von mehreren Programmen eines Programmsystems in identischer Form benötigt wird. Um in den Quelltexten der Programme redundanten Code zu vermeiden, werden die Includes eines Programmsystems zentral als Include-Dateien in einer Bibliothek (in Cobol: Copybook) hinterlegt. Unmittelbar vor dem Übersetzen eines Programms in Maschinensprache fügt der Präprozessor Kopien der benötigten Includes an diejenigen Stellen des Programms ein, die vom Programmierer mit einer Include-Anweisung und dem Namen des jeweiligen Includes gekennzeichnet wurden.

Include bezeichnet außerdem die Tags, mit der es die Mediawiki-Software selektiv Teile einer Seite in eine andere zu übernehmen.[2]
