Edmund May

Edmund May (* 1876 in Berlin; † 1956 in München) war ein deutscher Architekt.

Nach dem Abitur studierte May Architektur in Berlin und München. Ab 1905 leitete er das Atelier von Alfred Messel, mit dem er das Kaiserin-Auguste-Viktoria-Säuglingsheim entwarf. 1909 eröffnete er ein eigenes Atelier in Berlin, wo er einige öffentliche Bauten schuf. 1915 wurde er an die Kgl. Kunstgewerkschule Königsberg berufen, die er neu gestaltete und einrichtete. Im Ersten Weltkrieg war May am Wiederaufbau zerstörter Städte in Ostpreußen beteiligt.

1934 pensioniert, zog er nach Stuttgart und 1950 wieder nach München, wo er sich noch einige Jahre schriftstellerisch betätigte.[1]
