Edward Thomas Hughes (* 13. November 1920 in Lansdowne) ist Altbischof von Metuchen.

Leben

Edward Thomas Hughes empfing am 31. Mai 1947 die Priesterweihe.

Papst Paul VI. ernannte ihn am 14. Juni 1976 zum Weihbischof in Philadelphia und Titularbischof von Segia. Der Erzbischof von Philadelphia John Joseph Kardinal Krol weihte ihn am 21. Juli desselben Jahres zum Bischof; Mitkonsekratoren waren Gerald Vincent McDevitt, Weihbischof in Philadelphia, John Joseph Graham, Weihbischof in Philadelphia, und Martin Nicholas Lohmuller, Weihbischof in Philadelphia.

Papst Johannes Paul II. ernannte ihn am 11. Dezember 1986 zum Bischof von Metuchen; er wurde am 5. Februar 1987 ins Amt eingeführt. Am 8. Juli 1997 trat er von seinem Amt zurück.
