Flexible Algebra

Unter dem Flexibilitätsgesetz versteht man in der Mathematik die folgende Regel für eine Verknüpfung \circ

a \circ \left( b \circ a \right) = \left( a \circ b \right) \circ a.

Das Flexibilitätsgesetz wird automatisch von kommutativen oder assoziativen Verknüpfungen erfüllt. Es wird dann bedeutsam, wenn eine Verknüpfung nicht mehr assoziativ und nicht mehr kommutativ ist und so noch ein „Um-Klammern“ in bescheidenem Rahmen erlaubt.

Beispiele

  • Die Lie-Klammer erfüllt das Flexibilitätsgesetz:
In einer Lie-Algebra gilt aufgrund der Antisymmetrie der Lie-Klammer:
\left[a, [b, a]\right]=-[[b, a], a]  = [-[b, a], a] = [[a, b], a].
