George Alexander Eugene Douglas Haig, 2. Earl Haig, OBE, RSA (* 15. März 1918; † 9. Juli 2009) war ein britischer Peer und Politiker.
Leben und Karriere
Haig war der einzige Sohn des britischen Feldmarschalls Douglas Haig, 1. Earl Haig. Er besuchte die Stowe School und studierte am Christ Church College der University of Oxford. Im Januar 1928 erbte er die Titel seines Vaters.
Im Zweiten Weltkrieg diente er bei den Royal Scots Greys und war als Kriegsgefangener zeitweise im Schloss Colditz interniert. 1977 wurde er in den Order of Saint John aufgenommen.
Von 1956 bis zur Scheidung 1981 war Haig mit Adrienne Thérèse Morley verheiratet. In zweiter Ehe war er seit dem 24. März 1981 mit Donna Geroloma Lopez y Royo di Taurisano verheiratet. Er hatte drei Kinder aus seiner ersten Ehe, nämlich:
- Lady Adrienne Raina Haig,
- Lady Elizabeth Vivienne Therese Haig,
- Alexander Haig, 3. Earl Haig.
Haig schrieb seine Autobiografie unter dem Titel My Father's Son, welche im Jahr 2000 veröffentlicht wurde. Er war ein bekannter Landschaftsmaler und Mitglied der Royal Scottish Academy.
