Girls Just Want to Have Fun ist ein Lied von Cyndi Lauper aus dem Jahr 1983, das auf dem Album She’s So Unusual erschien. Das Stück wurde 1979 von Robert Hazard komponiert und getextet; ursprünglich schrieb er den Song aus männlicher Sicht. Da es das Stück von Lauper gesungen werden sollte, passte er den Text an.
Der Song wurde in Großbritannien mit Silber, in Japan mit der Goldenen Schallplatte, in den USA mit Platin und in Kanada zweimal mit Platin ausgezeichnet.
In der Episode Legends of the Mall von Daria sowie in der Episode Freaks & Geeks von Drawn Together kann man das Lied hören. 1994 erschien eine Reggae-Version des Liedes von Cyndi Lauper.
Musikvideo
Das Musikvideo wurde im Sommer 1983 gedreht. Der Vater im Video wurde von Lou Albano gespielt, Cyndis Mutter von ihrer leiblichen Mutter Cathrine Dominique Lauper. Den Tanzpartner stellte Laupers Anwalt Elliot Hoffman dar.
