Als headless, also kopflos, bezeichnet man Computer, meist Serversysteme, die über keinen Bildschirm oder sonstige grafische Ausgabe verfügen. Diese Systeme haben als Steuerungsmöglichkeiten in vielen Fällen eine Netzwerkverbinung, die einen Zugriff über SSH oder andere Terminaldienste, in neueren Fällen auch über Web-Frontends gesteuert werden.

Alternativ gibt es auch Server, die mit einem KVM-Switch zusammengeschlossen sind. Da die Aufgabe dieser Rechner meist die gleichen sind fallen auch diese in die Kategorie „headless“.
