Das International Institute for Family Enterprises (IIFE) ist die internationale Einheit des Wittener Instituts für Familienunternehmen (WIFU) an der Universität Witten/Herdecke (UWH) . Neben einem Sitz in Witten, Deutschland unterhält das Institut eine Niederlassung in Kairo, Ägypten sowie in Dubai, Vereinigte Arabische Emirate. Gründer und Direktoren des IIFE sind Timm Tiller und Paul Dietze.
Geschichte
Das IIFE wurde im Januar 2007 mit dem Ziel gegründet, die interdisziplinäre Forschung des WIFU im arabischen Raum auszubauen. Neben der wissenschaftlichen Erschließung international relevanter Fragestellungen des arabischen Familienunternehmertums bietet das Institut arabischen und westlichen Familienunternehmen die Möglichkeit zu einem interkulturellen und wirtschaftlichen Dialog und zur Vernetzung.
Arbeit
Das IIFE veranstaltet jährlich einen Arab-German Family Business Summit. Themenschwerpunkte im Jahr 2008 waren Unternehmensführung, Corporate Governance, Finanzkrise und Globalisierung sowie Erbfolge und Wachstum. Deutscher Schirmherr war Michael Glos, damaliger Bundesminister für Wirtschaft und Technologie. Im Jahr 2009 liegt der Fokus auf der internationalen Wirtschaftskrise. Die deutsche Schirmherrschaft übernimmt Dr. Arend Oetker.
