John Michael D’Arcy

John Michael D’Arcy (* 18. August 1932 in Brighton) ist Altbischof von Fort Wayne-South Bend.

Leben

John Michael D’Arcy empfing am 2. Februar 1957 die Priesterweihe und wurde in den Klerus des Erzbistums Boston inkardiniert. Paul VI. ernannte ihn am 30. Dezember 1974 zum Titularbischof von Mediana und Weihbischof in Boston.

Die Bischofsweihe spendete ihm der Erzbischof von Boston, Humberto Sousa Kardinal Medeiros, am 11. Februar des nächsten Jahres; Mitkonsekratoren waren Lawrence Joseph Riley, Weihbischof in Boston, und Thomas Joseph Riley, Weihbischof in Boston.

Am 18. Februar 1985 wurde er zum Bischof von Fort Wayne-South Bend ernannt und am 1. Mai desselben Jahres in das Amt eingeführt. Am 14. November 2009 nahm Papst Benedikt XVI. seinen altersbedingten Rücktritt an.
