L3S

Das L3S ist ein im Jahr 2001 gegründetes Forschungszentrum für grundlagen- und anwendungsorientierter Forschung neuer, zukunftsweisender Methoden und Technologien in den Bereichen Wissen, Information und Lernen mit Sitz in Hannover. Das L3S dient als Kooperationszentrum für fachgebiets- und institutionsübergreifende Projekte der Leibniz Universität Hannover in Kooperation mit der TU Braunschweig, der Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig sowie weiteren Hochschulen.

Im L3S werden neue, zukunftsweisende Methoden und Technologien, die intelligenten und nahtlosen Zugriff auf Informationen über das Web ermöglichen. Das Gesamtforschungsvolumen beträgt über 6 Mio. Euro pro Jahr, mit einer Vielzahl von Projekten in den Arbeitsbereichen.[1]

Auszeichnungen

L3S-Forscher erhielten ihren Beitrag "DL meets P2P - Distributed Document Retrieval based on Classification and Content" im Jahr 2005 den "Best Paper Award".[2]
