Michael John Sheridan

Michael John Sheridan (* 4. März 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri) ist ein römisch-katholischer Bischof von Colorado Springs.

Leben

Sheridan studierte Katholische Theologie an der St. Louis University High School und an der Päpstlichen Universität Heiliger Thomas von Aquin in Rom, wo er in Theologie promoviert wurde. Am 29. Mai 1971 wurde Sheridan durch Kardinal John Carberry zum Priester ordiniert. Danach war er im Erzbistum in der pastoralen Arbeit tätig.

Am 8. Juli 1997 wurde Sheridan durch Papst Johannes Paul II. zum Titularbischof von Thibiuca ernannt und zum Weihbischof in St. Louis bestellt. Die Bischofsweihe spendete ihm am 3. September 1997 Justin Francis Rigali, Erzbischof von Philadelphia; Mitkonsekratoren waren Edward Joseph O'Donnell, Bischof von Lafayette, und Edward Kenneth Braxton, Weihbischof in St. Louis.

Am 4. Dezember 2001 wurde Sheridan zum Koadjutor des Bischofs Richard Hanifen im Bistum Colorado Springs in Colorado ernannt, dem er 2003 als Bischof nachfolgte.
