Olav Thon (* 29. Juni 1923 in Ål im Hallingdal) ist ein norwegischer Immobilienmanager und einer der reichsten Menschen Norwegens mit einem geschätzten Gesamtvermögen von ca. 12 Milliarden NOK (1,5 Milliarden €).

Er lebt in Sollihøgda, einer Ortschaft der Kommune Hole. In der Forbes Liste der reichsten Menschen wird er 2009 an 334. Stelle mit einem Vermögen von ca. 2 Milliarden USD geführt.[1]

Wirken

Im Jahr 1951 kaufte er das erste Gebäude und 1966 eröffnete sein erstes Restaurant. Ihm gehören u.a. 47 Hotels der Thon Hotel Kette und diverse Einkaufszentren in Norwegen. Insgesamt umfasst der Bestand der Gruppe ca 420 Gebäude in Norwegen und weitere 25 außerhalb.

geplante Stiftung

Im September 2008 wurde bekannt, das er nahezu sein gesamtes Vermögen in eine Stiftung einbringen möchte.[2]
