Paolo Giordano I. Orsini

Paolo Giordano I. Orsini (* 1541; † 13. November 1585) war ab 1560 der erste Herzog von Bracciano.

Der Sohn von Girolamo Orsini and Francesca Sforza heiratete 1558 Isabella de' Medici, die Tochter von Großherzog Cosimo I. de' Medici. Der als brutal und aufbrausend beschriebene Mann nahm 1571 an der Schlacht von Lepanto teil, 1573 beteiligte er sich mit sechs toskanischen Schiffen an der spanischen Expedition gegen Tunis. 1576 ließ er seine Gattin wegen ihrer Beziehung zu seinem Cousin Troilo Orsini) in der Villa Medici von Cerreto Guidi bei Florenz erdrosseln. Im Jahr darauf ließ er auch Troilo in Paris ermorden. Nach dem Mord an der Gattin floh Paolo nach Rom, wo er eine Beziehung zur verheirateten Vittoria Accoramboni aufnahm. Ihren Gatten Francesco Peretti ließ er 1581 ebenfalls ermorden. in der Folge floh er mit Vittoria nach Venedig, dann nach Abano und Salò. Er heiratete Vittoria am 20. April 1585, starb aber noch im selben Jahr. Im Dezember 1585 wurde auch Vittoria ermordet, von Ludovico Orsini aus der Monterotondo-Linie.

Paolo Giordanos Güter gingen an Virginio Orsini, seinen Sohn mit Isabella.
