Die Python Software Foundation (PSF) ist die Organisation hinter dem Open-Source-Projekt der der Programmiersprache Python steht. Sie ist der Herausgeber und Rechteinhaber der Python-Software-Foundation-Lizenz und besitzt die Markenrechte an Python.
Organisation
Die Python Software Foundation ist eine Non-Profit-Organisation nach US-amerikanischem Recht, mit Sitz in im Bundesstaat Delaware (USA). Die Mitglieder der Organisation setzen sich zusammen aus Einzelpersonen, die einen bedeutenden Beitrag für Python geleistet haben und Firmen, die die Organisation sponsern. Sponsormitgliedschaften haben unter anderen Firmen wie Google, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems und Canonical. Die Python Software Foundation wurde am 6. März 2001 gegründet. Der Präsident der Organisation ist der Gründer der Programmiersprache Python Guido van Rossum.[1] Die Mitglieder treffen sich jährlich an der von der Python Software Foundation veranstalteten Entwicklerkonferenz PyCon, die seit 2011 als PyCon DE[2] auch für den deutschsprachigen Raum organisiert wird.
Python-Software-Foundation-Lizenz
Die Python-Software-Foundation-Lizenz ist eine ähnlich der BSD-Lizenz und kompatibel mit der GNU General Public License.[3] Im Unterschied zu BSD- und GPL-Lizenzen ist diese keine Copyleft-Lizenz.
